Aaron M. Ramirez, PsyD

Post-doctoral Fellow

Clinical Research Coordinator. Dr. Ramirez has his doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology and is currently a post-doctoral fellow at The Memory Clinic. He has been involved in research for depression, anxiety, domestic violence, multicultural counseling, and Alzheimer’s disease for over 10 years. Aaron also has over 10 years of experience conducting neuropsychological assessments and psychotherapy and is a certified substance abuse counselor.

Andrew Budson, MD

Neurology. After graduating cum laude from Harvard Medical School, Dr. Andrew Budson was an intern in internal medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.  He then attended the Harvard-Longwood Neurology Residency Program, for which he was chosen to be chief resident in his senior year.  He next pursued a fellowship in behavioral neurology and dementia at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, after which he joined the staff there.  He participated in numerous clinical trials of new drugs to treat Alzheimer’s disease in his role as the Associate Medical Director of Clinical Trials for Alzheimer’s Disease at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.  Following his clinical training he spent three years studying memory as a post-doctoral fellow in experimental psychology and cognitive neuroscience at Harvard University under Professor Daniel Schacter.  After five years as Assistant Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School, he was recruited jointly by the Boston University Alzheimer’s Disease Center and the Bedford VA Hospital.  After serving for several years as the Associate Clinical Director and Director of Outpatient Services for the Geriatric Research Education Clinical Center (GRECC) at the Bedford VA Hospital, he was promoted to the overall Director of this GRECC program.  He is also the Director of the Center for Translational Cognitive Neuroscience at the Bedford VA Hospital, Director of Cognitive Neuroscience Research at the Boston University Alzheimer’s Disease Center, Associate Professor of Neurology at Boston University School of Medicine, Lecturer in Neurology at Harvard Medical School, and Consultant Neurologist at the Division of Cognitive and Behavioral Neurology, Department of Neurology, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.  He has given over 240 local, national, and international grand rounds and other academic talks, including at the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience, Queen Square, London, and Cambridge University, England.  He has published over 80 papers in peer reviewed journals including Neurology, Brain, and Cortex, and is a reviewer for more than 40 journals.  His review in The New England Journal of Medicine entitled “Memory Dysfunction” has become a must-read for all clinicians evaluating patients with memory complaints.  Most recently he has been awarded the 2008 Norman Geschwind Prize in Behavioral Neurology.  Sponsored by the American Academy of Neurology, the prize is awarded yearly for outstanding research in the field of behavioral neurology.  His current research uses the techniques of experimental psychology and cognitive neuroscience to understand memory and memory distortions in patients with Alzheimer’s disease and other neurological disorders.

Cynthia A. Murphy, PsyD, MBA

Executive Director. Prior to joining The Memory Clinic in 2000, Cynthia worked in new product development and marketing for anti-dementia compounds for 15 years in the pharmaceutical industry. She received her PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University and an MBA from Columbia University.

Heather N. Redlich, BS

Clinical Research Coordiantor. Ms. Redlich has her degree in Health Sciences, with a minor in psychology. Heather developed an interest in research as a student and began working as a clinical research coordinator at Berkshire Medical Center. She joined the Memory Clinic in 2006.

Hunter Greene, BA

Data Management Consultant. Mr. Greene is a data base management specialist. He is responsible for maintaining the clinic data base as well as managing the computer network.

Krista Galipeau

Front Desk

Patient Care Coordinator. Ms. Galipeau has expertise as a liaison, facilitating communication flow within the office between patients/families, and our doctors and staff. She coordinates patient care and provides a wide range of administrative support services.

Kristen Munson, PsyD.

Post-doctoral Fellow. Dr. Munson recently completed her psychology internship through Southwestern Vermont Psychology Consortium. She is now a post-doctoral fellow at The Memory Clinic. Kristen has experience administering and interpreting neuropsychological test batteries for patients with memory problems, as well as conducting psychotherapy.

Lisa K. Catapano-Friedman, MD, DFAPA

Medical Director

Psychiatry. Dr. Catapano-Friedman has served as the principle investigator as well as investigator for numerous clinical trials. She also maintains a private practice in adult and adolescent psychiatry. Dr. Lisa has served as chair of the department of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center since 1994. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, in which she was elected to fellowship in 1996, becoming a distinguished fellow in 2003. She is licensed in both Vermont and Massachusetts.

Lucas

Therapy Dog.  Lucas has been interacting with patients at The Memory Clinic since he was a very young puppy.  At 8 years of age, he brings a sense of calm to our clinic.

Madeline M. Robinson, BA

Psychometrician. Ms. Robinson has more than 7 years of experience administering neuropsychological tests and rating scales. Madeline has participated in multiple clinical trials and is a certified blinded rater.

Martha Stitelman, MD

Medicine/Geriatrics. Dr. Stitelman is a primary care physician with a specialization in geriatrics. Her medical degree is from Columbia University’s College Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Martha is the medical director of the Center for Living and Rehabilitation as well as a consultant physician for The Memory Clinic. Dr. Martha has served as an investigator in multiple clinical trials in Psychiatry and Neurology. She is licensed in Vermont.

Mary Pat Mazzola, MA

Clinical Psychology. Ms. Mazzola is a licensed Psychologist in Vermont.  She has worked with dementia patients in both evaluative and therapeutic contexts for more than 8 years. Mary Pat has served as a global rater in multiple clinical trials.

Megan Casey, RN

Clinical Research Coordinator. Ms. Casey is a registered nurse with 6 years of clinical research experience. Her background is in neurology with a focus on Alzheimer’s disease. Megan has expertise in caring for the elderly in multiple settings, including hospitals, outpatient clinics, and nursing home settings.

Paul R. Solomon, PhD

Clinic Director

Neuropsychology. Dr. Solomon is professor of psychology and founding chairman of the neuroscience program at Williams College. He has been the principle investigator for over 75 clinical trials. Paul has authored more than 150 books, chapters, and research papers. He is the recipient of a National Research Service Award from the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Solomon is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association and The American Association for the Advancement of Science. He is a licensed psychologist in Massachusetts and Vermont.

Paula Levin, CRCC

Manager, Clinical Research. Ms. Levin has more than 12 years experience as a clinical research coordinator. She is highly experienced in all aspects of clinical research in Alzheimer’s disease and other neurological disorders. Paula has coordinated more than 40 clinical trials and is a regulatory specialist.

Rita Burgher

-Associate Clinical Research Coordinator.

Ms. Burgher has more than 25 years experience as a phlebotomist and laboratory coordinator. Rita has experience in multiple clinical trials. She has served as primary coordinator on four clinical trials and is an OSHA certified laboratory coordinator.

Stephanie J. Merrill

Regulatory Coordinator. Ms. Merrill has 15 years experience in regulatory affairs for clinical research trials.  She is highly experienced in handling all aspects of regulatory matters and serves as liason to both central and local IRBs.
